Limited to just 100 pairs and based on our compact TYPE 05 A-CORE monitor, EDITION X embodies the values that have guided HEDD Audio since its inception: quality, accuracy, and longevity. Each model is individually hand-made in Germany and engraved with its own serial number.

A Legacy of Precision
In the 1970s, physicist Oskar Heil invented the Air Motion Transformer (AMT) , a breakthrough in transducer design. The AMT's design allowed the driver to accelerate and “breathe” air in and out using a folded diaphragm design which increased the musicality and accuracy in high frequency reproduction.
Klaus Heinz fell in love with the sound of the AMT and over decades refined the design, making the AMT driver smaller and more reliable. In the late 1990s, he introduced this new, leaner AMT driver to the world of professional loudspeakers, laying the groundwork for HEDD Audio’s signature sound.
In 2015, Klaus co-founded HEDD Audio with his son, musicologist Dr. Frederik Knop. Among the first to join the team was engineer Dmitry Grigoriev, who has since played a key role in developing HEDD Audio's AMT drivers for diverse uses, including a revolutionary adaptation for headphones.
Ten years on, this commitment to precision and innovation continues and is celebrated with the EDITION X monitor.
