Since 2015, HEDD has been building audio products in Berlin that strive for incredible accuracy and signal fidelity to deliver users the sound they want so they can do what they do best .

In this time we’ve been lucky to work with and be supported by a growing number of artists, music professionals, and studios around the world who have found in our products the clarity, precision, and comfort they had always been looking for.

Home & Artist Studios

Musicians, composers, producers, and engineers who work in home or small dedicated studio environments have found that HEDD monitors and headphones can easily adapt to their specific spaces and needs without compromising on the integrity of their sound.

Based in Berlin, experimental cellist-composer Hildur Guðnadóttir and her husband, the producer and sound Designer Sam Slater, are on an inspiring musical journey. For years they have been active in and beyond the Icelandic and Berlin music scenes, playing shows and festivals, making inspiring records, and collaborating with bands and artists such as Animal Collective, Múm, Ben Frost and Valgeir Sigurðsson - among many others.

Whereas Sam owns fairly substantial amounts of hardware and software which he considers crucial to his studio workflow, Hildur is all about analog simplicity and minimalism. She puts her trust in the TYPE 20 MK2 monitors to find her way inside the sound, spending most of the time practicing the cello, finding new sounds, improvising - and ultimately recording herself through a straight-forward recording chain, only interrupted by the occasional bark of her dog Máni.

Mike Gao is one of LA's best kept secrets. Whether it's building intuitive apps that help creativity flow - beatboxing a rhythm to MIDI or learning chord progressions with PolyPlayground - or working with the likes of Anderson Paak and Doja Cat, Mike wears a lot of hats.

After he switched to using the TYPE 20 in his home studio, "My mixes started to translate easier, it was a lot faster for me to get to something that sounded good in different places."

Daði Freyr's distinctive brand of music is rooted in the pop frameworks and melodic hooks he grew up listening to, from his dad's record collection to the nu-metal and electronic music that helped shape his teenage identity. Today, the Iceland-born unwitting pop star lives in Berlin where he originally came to study music production and audio engineering.

It was Daði's father, an audio engineer for film, who first recommended he check out HEDD Audio. After getting a pair of TYPE 20 MK2 monitors for his studio, the Icelandic synthpop musician discovered a new level of clarity that has changed the way he works.

Mixing & Mastering Engineers

Since the release of the first HEDDphone model in 2020, mixing and mastering engineers from across the industry have found these open-back, AMT headphones to be an ideal addition to their setup, bringing clarity and precision to their detail-driven wor

"The HEDDphone are the truth. One of my favorite in the studio."

Sound engineering involves work that is difficult to describe with just words but is easy to explain with feelings. "You can't communicate it, but it feels right," is how INBLOOM, a mix engineer, producer, and Front Of House engineer for Loyle Carner, Little Simz, Amaarae, and Jorja Smith, explains it.

"The first time I tried the HEDDphone, I knew that was it, it's trust," he says of his first encounter with our headphones. Since then, the HEDDphone has allowed him to ensure that whatever decision he takes behind the boards - EQ, balance, or dynamic - will correctly translate to whatever space the artist and their audience find themselves in.

"HEDD is a company that seriously listens to their clients when it comes to product design and improvement. The HEDDphone® TWO delivers 100%. The sturdier new headband is excellent. It becomes like a second skin and you no longer compromise comfort for that vivid, hyper-focused AMT driver magic."

Professional & Independent Studios

Running a professional studio, whatever its size, is a demanding job with a variety of challenges, and the quality and accuracy of the music being heard shouldn't be one of them. This is why many studios from Los Angeles to Seoul have chosen HEDD monitors, knowing that once setup, the sound can be trusted and will translate correctly wherever the listeners are.

Launched in 2018 from the ashes of a historical dive bar and soundstage used by Ed Wood in the 1950s, Gold Diggers is a self-styled music campus featuring a hotel, bar, music venue, and recording studio located in East Hollywood, Los Angeles. Blink as you drive past on Santa Monica Blvd. and you might miss it but behind the unassuming facade lies a jewel for anyone who likes good food, good times, and good sound.

One of the hardest challenges for any professional studio is ensuring consistency in the sonic experience across rooms, and in turn across spaces where the music will be heard - from live stage to clubs to cars. For Gold Diggers studio manager Simon Horrocks and studio partner Dave Trumfio, they’ve been able to make this a smooth and pleasant experience thanks to HEDD’s TYPE 20 monitors and the Tower Mains System.

"HEDD monitors transparently represents the unique color of music. This allows the music produced with it to maintain consistent quality when heard in different environments, enabling full focus on it rather than the surrounding environment or equipment."

HEDD monitors are Dolby Atmos certified and over the past few years we've had the pleasure to work with a range of independent and professional studios to help create the immersive installation they need.

One of the most interesting collaborations we've had is with Friedemann Tischmeyer, founder of Hamburg's Mastering Academy school and studio.

The small Atmos room they built is a wonder to behold with a custom 7.4.4 setup that includes 4 BASS 12 subwoofers alongside TYPE 05 monitors for the tops and surround positions, TYPE 20 for the left and right positions, and TYPE 30 for the central position. The result is a mighty package that can deliver up to 7,200 Watts of amplification!
