The HEDDphone® D1 marks a new chapter in dynamic headphone design. It is the world’s first to feature a Thin-Ply Carbon Diaphragm (TPCD), a breakthrough that redefines what dynamic headphones can achieve.

Eight years of research and collaboration with Swedish engineers Composite Sound have led to this moment: a headphone built on precision, purpose, and material innovation.

Sound & Design — Precision in Motion

  • Thin-Ply Carbon Diaphragm

    At the heart of the D1 lies a diaphragm made from Thin-Ply Carbon, an advanced composite used in extreme applications from Formula 1 cars to NASA’s Mars helicopter Ingenuity. In headphone design, it becomes something entirely new: TPCD eliminates the need for traditional damping at the diaphragm level, enabling faster, cleaner and more accurate performance.

  • Custom Dynamic Driver

    Dynamic headphones have long balanced compromises such as speed versus stability or weight versus comfort. Drawing on four decades of R&D experience, and the expertise of Composite Sound, HEDD has engineered the core of the D1 driver to deliver studio-grade precision for personal listening. The result is sound that is detailed, balanced, and fatigue-free.

    With 32 Ω impedance and 100 dB sensitivity, the D1 performs consistently across sources from portable players to dedicated amplifiers. It also scales gracefully with higher-end systems while maintaining control and balance.

Air Motion Transformer in headphones?

Using a process we call Variable Velocity Transform (VVT) we rethought the AMT's geometry to allow the driver to reproduce the full audio spectrum from 10 to 40 kHz. The Air Motion Transformer driver is what allows certain HEDDphone® models to offer different tunings and bring every sonic detail in the music you hear to life.
